Cell wall

more information

Many cells also have a cell wall as well as cell membrane. This gives added strength and protection and prevents the cells from bursting if exposed to too high a pressure.

Extra protection

Nearly all micro-organisms, such as bacteria, archaea and fungi, and also plants have, in addition to a cell membrane, a cell wall surrounding their cells. Animal cells, including those of humans, have no cell wall. We only have cell membrane round our cells.
